Bio:

Duangkamol graduated from King Monkut’s Institute of Technology in 2002. After working as a graphic designer at Mono Magazine and DNA Magazine, she designed her own line of clothes Get Up Stand Up. She was an assistant designer for Inspired By Inner Complexity, a Thai firm. She graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology and worked Victor de Souza. She currently develops her own line, Dahn.Duangkamol.

Artist Statement:

The paper models are inspired by Phra and Nang, the main male and female characters of Thai puppet theater. Phra is a royal honorific for a male, meaning warrior, while Nang is a term of royal designation. The models are a deconstruction of the original Thai traditional symmetric style, yet keep the symbolism of the large triangle-curved shoulder and Thai patterns of drawing.
