Bio:

Arkom works in abstract and impressionist oils, acrylics, pastels and mixed techniques. Born in 1957 in Bangkok to a family of twelve, the path of his future was obvious from an early age. Arkom received his BFA in painting from Silipakorn University in 1982 and currently resides in New York City. Travelling and living abroad has provided him artistically enriching opportunities for working in unfamiliar cultural, social, and natural environments.

Artist Statement:

My art is inspired by the Buddhist notion of anicca (Pali for “impermanence”) which expresses that all experiences are inconstant, unsteady and impermanent. Having the opportunity to work in an unfamiliar environment and a chance to interface with a foreign audience have provided me with a unique platform to share experiences and broaden my own horizons while staying true to myself as a Thai and as a Buddhist.
